Forza + 360 + Wheel = Console Racing Perfection?

Forza Motorsport 2

As predicted, Microsoft took the opportunity at their jam-packed pre-show event to show off the game many Xbox-owning racing fans have been pining for: Forza 2. The game will feature 60 tracks, with Sebring joining the list this time, along with 300+ cars. You can expect the same sort of visual customizations (paint jobs, decals, body kits) that made online racing in Forza a very interesting experience.

Lap the competition with truly next-generation features. Made possible by the power of Xbox 360, Forza Motorsport 2 burns rubber at 60 fps with 4x full-screen anti-aliasing, motion blur, and high-dynamic-range lighting in crisp 720p high-definition glory. And you can feel every nuance of your car and the road thanks to support for the official Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel.

Forza Motorsport 2

As mentioned above, Microsoft also unveiled something that’s been sorely lacking for the 360: a wireless wheel to match. I know even less about the wheel than I do about the game, though, except that it’s… well… wireless… and… round (mostly). Given that it’s wireless I would have assumed that it’s not going to feature force-feedback, but given the “feel every nuance of your car” quote above, what do I know?

My sit-down appointment with Microsoft won’t be until Friday morning, but you can be sure I’ll be picking their brains about the game and the wheel. Until then, you can check out Forza’s official site for a bit more info, and download the trailer yourself on Marketplace.
