Another UK PGR3 Tournament Announced

This tournament is Extreme

This one’s being put on by the Extreme Sports Channel and Joystick Junkies. It will take place at the, erm, Ripspeed Donny car show in Essex on August 13. Read on for more information covering everything except, interestingly, what you’ll actually win. (Presumably getting your ugly mug on TV looking like a dork while you play PGR3 is considered to be reward enough.)

Extreme Sports Channel Announces Live Televised Pro Videogaming Tournament TV Series

The Extreme Sports Channel (www.extreme.com) have announced the creation of a series of live video gaming events which will be added to the channel’s programming line-up to tap into the rapidly growing competitive video games market.

The first programme in the series, Pro Videogaming: Xbox Cup is a four and half hour live broadcast from the Adidas World of Football in Berlin this Saturday July 1st. The broadcast will feature the culmination of the Xbox Cup, a global competition which brings gamers from all over the world together to compete in their own virtual World Cup.

For the second show in the season, Extreme Sports Channel have commissioned British fashion and videogame event label Joystick Junkies to produce the Pro Videogaming: Project Gotham Racing 3 tournament at the Ripspeed Donny car show on Sunday 13th August (www.donnyshow.co.uk). Ripspeed Donny expects 20,000 visitors at their show which takes place on North Weald Airfield in Essex.

Joystick Junkies are bringing together hundreds of the UK’s very best gamers to compete in the UK’s first live televised pro-racing games tournament. After 7 days of gruelling heats on Xbox Live and in the morning at Ripspeed Donny, the final 16 competitors will be pitting their racing skills against the very best the UK has to offer. They will be playing Project Gotham Racing 3 on an open air 20ft x 15ft LED screen on live television and the pressure will be on to give their best ever performance with a huge audience, and a hot list of prizes up for grabs.

On the day, entrants will be able to compete for one of the final 8 slots in the tournament in the morning, whilst visitors will also be able to try out new and forthcoming video game releases, take part in or watch some special events and much more.

The Extreme Sports Channel will be airing the Ripspeed Donny event over the course of 4 x 30 minute live broadcasts on Sunday 13th August with the programming repeated between 9pm-11pm and Midnight to 2am.

Finalists for the Pro Videogaming: Project Gotham Racing 3 tournament will be found via Xbox Live heats (to find 8 of the 16 finalists) which will take place from 4th-10th August live on the channel, while a further 8 contestants will be chosen from heats taking place at the Ripspeed Donny event in the morning.

Full details of the event and how to enter the heats will be posted at www.extreme.com or send an email to info@extremesportschannel.com to be sent full details as soon as they are available.
