Driver: Parallel Lines

When we mentioned the unofficial announcement of this game back in January, we mentioned the bad reviews Parallel Lines had received on other platforms, but expressed some hope for the game thanks to its new parent, Ubisoft. Now, it seems, that hope may have been well founded. Eurogamer brings news of a post over at The Guardian discussing the upcoming Wii version and how its controls will work. They sound, it must be said, quite interesting:

On the Wii version, the control mechanic is completely new compared with other platforms (PS2, Xbox). As you know, the controllers provide new avenues for creativity; for instance using the Wii Remote to select the target, master the weapon and shoot. The Nunchuk, meanwhile, will be used to drive, adjust the speed, and control the character and his gestures…We have also implemented a new controller concept; there is no auto-target; so the player will be able to point and shoot everywhere on the screen. We have changed the camera to an OTS (over the shoulder) view; the advantage is that the experience is similar to a FPS; so it’s more fun as well.

Now, for me, I’m usually not that eager to have driving games try to become run & gun games. But, if the shooting bits are implemented well, and the driving sequences hold up, it could be fun.
